4 MASALA PORI /SPICY PUFFED RICE

Masala pori a quick snack that is very commonly prepared in many houses is one of my favourite. I remember mom making it during rainy days..when it was difficult to go out to get some snacks from store/bakery.

Pori/puffed rice/murmura - 6 cups
Red chillies - 3 broken into half
Curry leaves - few
Raw peanuts - 2 tbsp
Dalia split/pottukadalai - 2 tsp
Hing - a pinch
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
Garlic -5 or 6
Salt as required
Oil = 2 tbsp

Adding garlic gives a good flavor/taste...do not remove the skin fully...just partially peel it and crush garlic well.

Heat oil in a kadai and add peanuts and fry for a minute...next add dalia split and fry till both turn light brown...remove and keep aside... if needed add some more oil and add hing, broken red chillies and curry leaves... next add crushed garlic and fry till garlic turns brown and crispy... reduce flame and add pori/puffed rice, salt, turmeric powder and chilli powder... mix well and fry till pori gets crisp... remove and store in a covered box... I always like to taste the garlic in this which will be fried well and have the salt and spice in it.
