Potato Masala/masal/saagu

A perfect side dish for poori/rawa idli and many other tiffin items

Potato - 4 medium boiled and mashed

Onion - 1 chopped fine
Green chillies - 3 slit long
Ginger - A small piece grated
curry leaves - few
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Lemon juice - 1/ tsp
Channa dhal - 1 tsp
mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Urad dhal - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - few
cilantro leaves - few chopped fine
Green peas - handful cooked( optional use)

In a kadai/pam heat oil and add Channa dhal,mustard seeds, urad dhal,curry leaves ...when they splutter up add chopped onions....fry till they are transculent...in between frying itslef add grated ginger, curry leaves, green chillies.....next add mashed potatoes, salt and turmeric powder....can also add cooked peas...

Mix well. Garnish with cilantro. You can use this masala as masala for masala dosa or as a dry side dish...If you need it to be semi liquidy add 2 cups of water and cook for another 5 minutes.Just before removing add lemon juice... You can now use this masala as side dish for poori or dosa.
