Onion - 1 small chopped into big pieces
Tomato - 2 or 3 chopped into big pieces
Tamarind - a small piece( optional)
Garlic - 2 or 3 pods
Red chillies - 4 or Chilli powder - 1 tbsp
Salt as needed
Oil - 1 1/2 tbsp
Mustard seeds, urad dhal, curry leaves.
In a kadai/frying pan add a spoon of oil and fry onions ...next add garlic,tamarind and red chillies( if using red chillies) and saute...finally add tomatoes and mash well and fry...if using chilli powder add now and cilantro...mix well...remove from stove and cool.. Grind in a mixer with salt and season with the temperings .... Goes well with all types of idlis and dosas.
