I try to make chutney's with many vegetables and this is one among them. You cannot feel the taste of cabbage at all.
Cabbage - 1/2 or 1/4 depending on qty( Chopped into thick )
Onion - 1 medium chopped roughly
Garlic - 4 flakes
Ginger - a small piece
Green chilli - 4
Tamarind - very little ( 1 " piece)
Cilantro - few leaves ( optional)
Salt as needed
Oil - 2 tbsp
For Tempering :-
Mustard seeds, Urad dhal,ingu ( optional) Curry leaves - all few.
In a kadai/pan heat oil and add onions fry well for 3 minutes..next add green chillies, garlic, ginger and tamarind saute for another 4 minutes. Finally add cabbage (washed and chopped) , can also remove the fried onions seperately and fry the cabbage pieces in the same pan. Fry till the cabbage are cooked, add cilantro....cool it and grind in a mixer with salt. Temper it with the seasonings...goes well with dosa and idlis and good way to add veggie to your meal.
